U3A Network New Zealand

U3A (University of the Third Age) groups are social and cultural gatherings for people in retirement or semi-retirement.

Each U3A is autonomous, promoting healthy ageing by sharing educational, creative, leisure activities organised by their own members. There is no qualification for membership and no degrees or diplomas are awarded; activities are for stimulation and enjoyment in an informal friendly atmosphere.

U3A Network New Zealand is set up to provide a means of communicating between U3As around New Zealand and publicising U3A to the wider community.

This site has links to U3A groups within New Zealand, and to resources both in NZ and overseas.

Our Vision

In order to be a successful, worthwhile community contact, and a reliable source of information as a contact base for inter-U3A use, this website was set up.

U3A Networks around NZ are invited to join the website.

Links to the networks would be from this website and users would simply access their area/region for up to date details. The individual U3A groups would be linked under their own area networks.

Throughout the world, individual U3A groups, while remaining strictly autonomous, have banded together to form networks.

At this stage in 2010 it is not envisaged that any formal contracts, constitutions or a Memorandum of Agreement be set up for this Network. We believe we can act with goodwill in servicing our own networks and promoting interchange amongst us all.
